CC to call applications for new members of independent commissions

The Constitutional Council which met today with Speaker at the chair decided to call for applications from suitable persons for the independent commissions such as the Election Commission, the Public Service Commission and the National Police Commission.

Applications will be called through print media advertisements.

Accordingly, a newspaper advertisement will be published calling for applications for the appointment as Members of Election Commission, Public Service Commission, National Police Commission, Audit Service Commission, Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Finance Commission, Delimitation Commission and for the National Procurement Commission.

A period of two (2) weeks from the date of advertisement will be given to the applicants to submit their applications. More details about the application process will be notified through print media advertisements.

The Constitutional Council has also unanimously agreed to discharge duties and functions of the Council in an independent, accountable and transparent manner.

The Constitutional Council had its first meeting today presided by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, the Speaker and the Chairman of the Constitutional Council.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
