The Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) has decided to make a complaint to the Speaker against a statement made by Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara criticizing the powers of the COPE and the Auditor General.
The COPE which met in Parliament on Thursday (5) has taken up the matter with regard to the statement made by Minister Nanayakkara at a ministry official function held on December 22,2022.
The Auditor General had informed in writing to the COPE that Minister Nanayakkara had criticised the powers of the COPE and the Auditor General.
After the matter was discussed, the COPE observed that the Minister's statement is a bad precedent and expressed its displeasure and also it was decided to convey its regrets to the Auditor General and his staff.
