Colombo, Dec 18 (Daily Mirror) - Referring to the appointment of a new Selection Committee to Sri Lanka cricket, veteran Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena said a shift in individuals is not poised to yield any substantial changes.
Speaking to reporters, the former all-rounder said Sri Lanka Cricket should require a feasible strategic plan aimed at reviving Sri Lanka's cricket.
“The present state of Sri Lanka cricket is a result of a prolonged period of poorly executed plans. Hence, it’s high time to have apposite strategies to uplift Sri Lanka cricket; otherwise, further downfall is inevitable,” he stressed.
“The game of cricket has vastly changed over the years with the advancement of technology. Thus, it is paramount to make the maximum use of technology,” he said, while adding, several areas such as the standard of school, club and interprovincial cricket selection methods have to be improved so as to harness Sri Lanka cricket.
“If these things are put in place, tangible developments can be seen in five years,” he added.
Dharmasena also questioned the absence of a proper captain.
