The Jaffna Magistrate’s Court yesterday issued summons against Palmyrah Development Board Chairman Kirishantha Pathiraja, on allegation of purported acts of stealing relevant documents, including the audit report from the cabinet, which are apparently incriminating him for the alleged corruption and fraud.

Magistrate Nalini Subakaran issued summons against the accused, pursuant to a complaint made by Internal Audit Officer Nellinathan Sivarajah. Attorney-at-Law Stanislaus Celestine appeared for the complainant.

Complainant Sivarajah has alleged that the accused had broken the cabinet, which was under his custody and removed the audit reports and believed to have destroyed or burned them, in order to cover his unscrupulous deeds for furtherance of his intention. Further magisterial inquiry is fixed for January 5, 2022.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
