While highlighting that a criminal case should be filed against former President Maithripala Sirisena and others for failing to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks based on the Supreme Court ruling, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today their legal team is studying the Supreme Court verdict and how the Attorney General was acting upon the verdict.

He told a news conference that the verdict however was not revealing the mastermind of the attack and that the government should reveal the mastermind as well.

He said the Supreme Court verdict proves that Maithripala Sirisena, former Defense Secretary, IGP and Intelligence Chief failed to prevent the attack and have violated the religious freedom established by the Constitution.

“This verdict has been given based on a Fundamental Rights petition filed by a group of Easter attack victims. Our stance is that further action should be taken against them based on the Supreme Court verdict. Our legal team is studying the verdict and how the AG is acting upon the verdict,” he said.(Ajith Siriwardana)
