Deputy Minister agrees to pay fine after his driver caught speeding

Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena agreed to pay a fine for speeding despite officers on duty offering to release the vehicle without imposing it, an informed source said.

The incident occurred on the Meerigama-Kurunegala stretch of the expressway when the Deputy Minister’s driver was caught for high speeding. 

Dr. Gunasena, who was on board at the time, insisted on paying the fine, stating that all citizens must adhere to the country’s laws, the source added.
