Colombo, July 09 (Daily Mirror) - Concerns have arisen among pensioners regarding the timely disbursement of pensions for July amidst the ongoing strike by public sector employees.

According to the President’s Media Division, despite the strike affecting some public sector operations, pensions for 708,231 registered pensioners, scheduled for July 10th, were disbursed to banks today (09).

A total of LKR 28.5 billion has been allocated to 24 public and private banks, as well as the Postal Department.

This ensures that approximately 99.5% of pensioners will receive their payments on time. However, due to the closure of Divisional Secretariats on July 08 and 09, around 13,000 pensioners will receive their pensions on July 11th.
