Drowning claims two lives

Colombo, July 15 (Daily Mirror) -  A 20-year-old  youth drowned while bathing in the Deduru Oya in Chilaw with a group of people last evening. 

The victim was rushed to the Chilaw Hospital but was pronounced dead on admission. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Hatton.

The incident occurred while the group, including the victim, his wife and three others were on a leisure trip. 

The Chilaw Police is conducting investigations.

Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man also drowned while bathing in the Mahaweli Ganga along the Katugastota-Madawala road.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Haloya area.

The body is currently in the Kandy Hospital and the Katugastota Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
