Election Commission gears up for presidential nomination day

Colombo, August 14 (Daily Mirror) -  As the 2024 Presidential Election approaches, the Election Commission has announced detailed arrangements for the nomination process, scheduled for August 15, 2024. 

The commission's press release outlines the steps and procedures to ensure a smooth and secure nomination process, which will take place at the Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya.

Accordingly, the candidates who have made their deposits by 12:00 noon on August 14, 2024, are required to submit their nominations between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on August 15, 2024. The nomination submission will be overseen by the Chairman and members of the Election Commission, according to the press release. 

During the nomination period, there is also a window for objections. Opposing candidates or individuals who have signed nomination papers may submit written objections from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM on the same day.
