Fatal accident in Puttalam leaves three dead

A man, a woman and a child had been killed while another eight were injured after a van veered off the road and crashed into a tree at the 4th Mile Post on the Puttalam - Anuradhapura Road this afternoon, the police said.

They said the man, woman and the child succumbed to their injuries on admission to the Puttalam Hospital.  

The police said the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excess speed.

The injured are currently receiving treatments at the Puttalam Hospital and the police are carrying further investigations. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
