Four killed within 24 hours due to road accidents

Police said that four persons, including a woman, have died in separate road accidents over the past 24 hours across Moronthuduwa, Kopai, Karandeniya and Kadawatha.

In Moronthuduwa, a 21-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident on the Moronthuduwa-Horana road when he lost control and crashed on to a culvert. He sustained serious injuries and later died at the Gonaduwa Hospital.

In Jaffna, a three-wheeler collided with a 68-year-old pedestrian from Kattapirai, was seriously injured and admitted to Jaffna Hospital.

In Borakanda, an 81-year-old cyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, a 74-year-old man from Kadawatha died when his motorcycle was struck by a lorry on the Kandy-Colombo main road, causing him to fall and be crushed under the vehicle's rear wheel.
