Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa urged government MPs to resign if they fail to provide evidence of their educational qualifications, echoing the recent resignation of Speaker Ashoka Ranwala.
Taking to X, Rajapaksa praised Ranwala's decision to step down amid questions about his credentials, describing it as a commendable move in the interest of transparency.
However, he criticised other government MPs, particularly from the National People's Power (NPP) party, who have yet to address allegations about misleading the public regarding their qualifications.
“This goes against the very vision of President Anura Kumara to maintain a clean and transparent Parliament,” Rajapaksa said. “If the NPP is serious about upholding its pledge for accountability, these MPs should step down immediately.”
