The government has decided to call investor proposals to build two four-star airport hotels adjoining Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA).
Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga on Monday sought Cabinet approval to call proposals from investors to construct the two four-star class hotels adjoining the airport in a bid to attract tourists.
The Government Information Department said two land plots have already been recognised at the right side of the terminal building of MRIA for the projects.
“It has been observed that it is an advantageous situation to attract tourists by constructing two 4-star class hotels adjoining the airport,” the Government Information Department added.
MRIA recorded the highest passenger arrivals last year with several international airlines commencing flights.
