Heavy rainfall, strong winds on the cards

Colombo, June 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has issued a weather advisory for several regions in Sri Lanka, warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds over the next few days.

Accordingly, some areas within the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and the Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts may experience fairly heavy showers, with rainfall exceeding 75 mm.

Showers are anticipated intermittently in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. 

In addition, the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts may see showers or thundershowers in the evening or night, bringing localized rain to these areas.

The advisory also warns of strong winds, ranging between 40-50 km/h, which are expected to affect the Western slopes of the central hills and several other provinces. 

The Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, along with the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Moneragala districts, will experience these gusty conditions.
