Hopeful of further reducing inflation: CB Governor

Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said his main expectation this year was to bring down inflation and to reduce the interest.

During a meeting with Mahanayake of the Malwatta Chapter Ven.Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera he said that he was hopeful of further reducing inflation by the first quarter of the year.

He told the media after the meeting that he would take up the responsibility of stabilizing the country’s economy.

“Reducing the inflation was a responsibility of the Central Bank and I am please that it has shown a remarkable progress. This would result in relief from economic constraints experienced last year. The interest rate would dwindle and the people will have the opportunity to live a better life free of hardship,” the Central Bank Governor further said.

He met the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera as well. (Nimal Kolabissa)
