’Ice’ worth over Rs. 51 Mn seized in Katunayake

Colombo, August 7 (Daily Mirror)- More than five kilograms of Methamphetamine (Ice) valued at more than Rs. 50 million were seized from a container yard in Katunayake today.

The drug haul was seized during a joint operation conducted by the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Customs Officials and STF personnel attached to the Gonahena STF camp.

The drugs weighing 5 kilos and 112 grams were concealed in 63 parcels containing computer accessories which had been sent through air mail from Dubai.

Investigations have revealed that the parcel had been sent by an organised drug smuggler known as 'Dubai Nipuna'.
