Indian geologists forecast earthquake: If an earthquake occurs in India, we too will feel its impact: Prof. Athula Senaratne

• An earthquake of Richter  Scale 05 magnitude which occurred two years ago near the Himalayan range  was felt in Colombo

Senior Professor Athula Senaratne of Peradeniya University said in case of an earthquake of Richter Scale 8 magnitude in India as forecast by the Indian geologists, Colombo city would feel its impact.  

 He told the media yesterday that an earthquake of Richter  Scale 05 magnitude which occurred two years ago near the Himalayan range  was felt by the Colombo city and that the people frightened of any  disastrous situation left the buildings. He said the earthquake forecast  by the Indian authorities recently would be more forceful.   However, he pointed out that several forecasts of earthquakes worldwide had not occurred.
