Issuing of tickets at Athurugiriya interchange suspended

Athurugiriya, June 26 (Daily Mirror) - Issuing tickets at the Athurugiriya interchange of the Southern Expressway has been suspended today due to an allegation of financial fraud, an official of the Road Development Authority (RDA) said.

He said no tickets were issued today (26) when vehicles enter from the Athurugiriya expressway interchange. 

Twenty-two cashiers, including the chief cashier of the Athurugiriya Interchange of the Colombo Outer Circular Expressway, have been interdicted over a financial fraud of millions of rupees.

They were interdicted for defrauding millions of rupees by not issuing tickets for the money paid by motorists as toll charges.

However, several employees of the Galanigama Interchange were temporarily employed to collect money.

The officer said they have taken measures to collect the money from the entrance, as stated by the driver when the vehicle exits from the Athurigiriya exit.
