’Kukul Chaminda’ arrested over assault on 4-year-old child

Trincomalee, June 5 (Daily Mirror) - The suspect identified as Kukul Chaminda alias Bibile Chaminda, who was wanted for the brutal assault on a 4-year-old child, has been arrested by the Police, along with his wife and another woman.

Police initiated investigations following the circulation of a video on social media which went viral, depicting the suspect's ruthless assault on the 4-year-old child.

A neighbour had recorded the video which was released on social media, of the particular suspect brutally assaulting the child while he was eating at his home.

Police said the 45-year-old suspect was arrested by the STF and Welioya Police early this morning in the Pulmoddai area. The two women were arrested on charges of aiding the suspect.

All suspects will be produced before court today.
