LKR depreciates to the highest point in history

The Sri Lankan Rupee depreciated to the highest point in history today reaching Rs. 249 against the US Dollar.

According to the exchange rate data released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) today, the US Dollar buying rate was recorded at Rs. 249.96, and the indicative rate was Rs. 229.33 against the US Dollar.

The Central Bank yesterday confirmed to bankers yesterday that the Sri Lankan Rupee is floating.
