Lal Kantha tops Kandy, Kiriella’s daughter enters Parliament

The preferential vote results for the Kandy District in the 2024 General Election have been released and NPP’s K.D. Lal Kantha secured the highest number of preferential votes in Kandy, with 316,951 votes.

Rauf Hakeem and Chamindrani Kiriella won two parliamentary seats for the SJB in the district, while Anuradha Jayarathne secured a seat for the New Democratic Front (NDF).
