Lanka Premier League 2024 gets underway

(Daily Mirror) - The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 Cricket Tournament commenced at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Sri Lanka Women’s Team Captain Chamari Atapattu flagged of the LPL 2024 during a vibrant opening ceremony.

Former Australian World Cup-winning Captain Michael Clarke, who is the Brand Ambassador of the LPL, also participated in the opening ceremony, along with players from all five franchise teams, including their captains.

Wanindu Hasaranga, Captain of the reigning champions Kandy Falcons, handed over the LPL Trophy to the Brand Ambassador.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Shammi Silva, Samantha Dodanwela, Tournament Director of the LPL and other SLC office bearers.
