Lankan businessman nabbed with Rs. 5 million worth cosmetics

A Sri Lankan air passenger was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle in cosmetic items worth Rs. 5 million.  

The 34-year-old suspect, a resident of the Batticaloa area, was apprehended by Customs officers at the airport's arrival lounge.  

Customs investigations revealed that the suspect was a frequent traveller and a businessman and had arrived in the country from Mumbai, India. The cosmetic items were discovered packed in his baggage.  

Further investigations are underway by the Sri Lanka Customs.
