Minister urges large-scale rice millers to release stock

Cabinet spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa urged large-scale rice millers to release their rice stocks, considering it as an essential duty.

As an alternative solution, the government has decided to import rice to address the shortage, working in collaboration with small and medium-scale rice millers.

Additionally, the government will intervene to implement sustainable measures to manage the rice issue in the country starting from the next season.
