Minor tremor felt in Pallekele

A minor earth tremor was reported this morning at Ambakote, Pallekele in Kandy, a senior official of the Seismic Data & Tsunami Alert Centre (SDTAC) said.

He said the tremor was recorded in the Pallekale Seismic Centre at 9.27 a.m, less than a magnitude of 2.0.

He said the current tremor occurred in the same area where the previous tremor was experienced.

Earlier, a tremor was reported from the Haragama area in Kandy August 29 at a magnitude of closer to 2.0.

The Pallekele seismic center had recorded the tremor occurred around 08.32 pm from the Haragama area. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
