Colombo, August 28 (Daily Mirror) - Pledges made by National Peoples Power (NPP) if implemented will reduce annual state revenue by Rs 200 billion, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday.
Speaking during a rally in Mawanella, Mr. Wickremesinghe said the tax reductions pledged by the NPP manifesto will result in a fall of the Sri Lankan economy.
“The country is travelling across a suspension bridge. However, the NPP if elected will cut down the bridge. The country’s economy will fall in such an eventuality,” he said.
“I also read the NPP manifesto. It took me three days to read it. It will take you three months to finish reading it. Don’t bother to read it but use your vote intelligently,” he told the people at the meeting.
Also he announced that his manifesto named ‘Puluwan Sri Lanka will be launched on Thursday August 29, 2024.
