Colombo, December 15 (|Daily Mirror) - The passenger ferry services between Nagapattinam in India and Kankesanthurai (KKS), Jaffna in Sri Lanka's Northern Province is scheduled to resume next January.

The service was suspended on November 7 due to bad weather conditions.

Ponnusamy Sundarraj, the investor of the ‘Subam’ boat service, informed the media that the ferry will operate six days a week, offering various facilities to passengers.

"It was initially planned to resume operations on November 19, but due to a forecast depression in the Bay of Bengal on November 23, the passenger boat service was postponed," he said.

The one-way fare is set at INR 9,700, while a round-trip ticket costs INR 8,500. Passengers will be allowed a maximum of 10 kgs of luggage, with an additional fee for luggage exceeding this limit.

Detailed information about the service is available on the official website. Sundarraj emphasised that luggage allocation must be confirmed before the journey begins.

The ferry will offer onboard meals, including Italian dishes, Pongal for breakfast, and vegetable biriyani for lunch. Beverages such as milk tea, coffee made with cow’s milk, and soft drinks will also be available. Additionally, a duty-free shop is planned for the ferry.

Since the boat service is directly managed by ‘Subam’, a dedicated website, sailsubham.com, has been launched. It provides information on ticket bookings and travel plans.

To ensure accessibility, passengers can obtain information in all three languages. The company also offers accommodation packages for two nights and three days at an additional cost of INR 15,000.
