Namal pledges to protect dignity of armed forces

Colombo, August 27 (Daily Mirror)-  A future Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) government will protect the dignity of the armed froces, SLPP Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa said today.

Speaking at a rally in Galgamuwa, he said steps will be taken to ensure welfare facilities and resolve issues regarding their pensions.

Rajapaksa said an SLPP government will follow the agricultural policy of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

"I will follow the agriculture poliocy of Mahinda Rajapaksa. We will provide a fertiliser subsidiary and new technology to young farmers," he said.

Rajapaksa said some parties have prepared their policy manifestos merely to win the election. 

"We will promise only plausible things," he said.
