Colombo , October 8 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet has decided to terminate the services of officers and consultants appointed on contract basis for three projects initiated by the previous government.

Steps have also been taken to establish the ‘Office for the Affairs of Sri Lankans Abroad’ under the President's Office and to establish a ‘National Peoples Council’ and implement the ‘Agriculture Modernization Programme.’

The previous government had appointed officers and consultants on contract basis for these initiatives.

However, given that the relevant Ministries are now capable of handling the anticipated functions of these offices and programmes, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has taken action to end the contracts, effective September 30, 2024, after informing the Cabinet of Ministers, Cabinet Spokesman Vijitha Herath said.
