No SJB MP will support Ranil except for SF, Rajitha: Thushara Indunil

Parliament, July 24 (Daily Mirror)- Claiming that no Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP except Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and Rajitha Senarathne, will join Ranil Wickremesinghe' faction at the Presidential election, SJB MP Thushara Indunil today urged the President to resolve the issue of getting the support of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) without betraying SJB MPs.

He told Parliament that there are no 20 SJB MPs to join the Ranil faction as claimed and said some 35 to 40 MPs were ready to join Sajith Premadasa on August 8.

"We tell Ranil Wickremesinghe to resolve the issue whether he will get the support of the SLPP MPs. Don't betray SJB MPs saying that they will join you for the Presidential election. No SJB MP will join you. If there are any, that is Sarath Fonseka and Rajitha Senarathne only," he said.

He said it is unlikely that the SLPP will support Ranil Wickremesinghe as the SLPP is divided on the matter and added that if the President fails to get the SLPP’s support, he will not contest. 

"Then, Fonseka and Rajitha will have no place to go," he said.
