Numerous MPs to quit politics

Numerous MPs who were in the currently dissolved Parliament have decided to opt out of politics without contesting the upcoming general election.

Among them are former foreign affairs minister Ali Sabry and former irrigation minister Chamal Rajapaksa.

Others include Gamini Lokuge, John Seneviratne, Maitripala Sirisena, Bandula Gunawardane, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Prof. Tissa Vitarana.

Besides, the traditional parties such as Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) have decided to infuse a lot of young blood into it.
