Colombo, September 11 (Daily Mirror) - The government has saved around Rs. 10 million by conducting online recruitment for teacher trainees at National Colleges of Education (NCE), Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.
He said that previously, Rs. 13.5 million was spent on teacher trainer recruitments, but this time it cost only Rs. 3.5 million, allowing the government to save Rs. 10 million.
During a discussion at the Ministry, he mentioned that earlier, the recruitment of trainees took between one and a half to two years, but this time it was completed efficiently within just four months.
The Informatics Institute of Technology provided full technical support after receiving approval from the Cabinet and the Attorney General.
Regarding the establishment of the University of Education, the Minister said the final draft to merge all 19 colleges is almost complete. Once finalised next week, the draft will be sent to the Attorney General and then to the Cabinet for approval.
