Over 100mm rains today

Heavy rains above 100mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Puttalam districts, the forecasting division, National Meteorological Centre said.

They said the showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. 

Meanwhile, several spells of light showers will occur in the Matale and Anuradhapura districts. Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected over the Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Moneragala districts.
