Colombo, November 27 (Daily Mirror) - A total of 207,582 people from 59,269 families have been affected across 17 districts due to the ongoing heavy rains, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) report.
In the Central Province, 45 individuals from 13 families have been impacted and in the North-Western Province 6,615 people from 1,893 families have been affected.
Meanwhile, 193 people from 51 families have been impacted in the Sabaragamuwa Province.
In the Northern Province, 62,505 people from 17,922 families have been affected by the heavy rains, while in the Eastern Province 129,531 individuals from 36,811 families have also been impacted.
The Southern Province has reported 835 people from 222 families affected, while 546 people from 150 families have been impacted in the Central Province.
Furthermore, in the Uva Province, 1,861 people from 477 families have been affected, while in the North-Central Province 5,451 people from 1,730 families have been impacted.
The heavy rainfall has caused significant damage, with six houses completely destroyed and 561 houses partially damaged.
So far, one death and eight injuries have been reported due to the adverse weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of those affected, 10,137 people from 3,102 families have been relocated to 101 safe locations.
