Perseid meteor shower visible after midnight

Colombo, August 11 (Daily Mirror) - One of the best meteor showers of the year the ‘Perseid meteor' shower will be visible to Sri Lanka tonight, after midnight or pre-dawn light hours.

The Perseus constellation is a curved pattern of stars visible in the northern sky after midnight. It is named after the Greek mythological hero, Perseus.

The meteor shower was visible from Sri Lanka from July 17 to August 24, with its peak occurring tonight (August 11) and tomorrow morning (August 12). During this peak, at least 100 meteors per hour can be seen with the naked eye around 1 a.m.
