Police constable arrested for burglary

A police constable who burgled a house in Dehiwala and took away property including foreign currency, gold jewellery and electrical appliances was arrested yesterday by the Dehiwala police.

 The 29-year-old PC is attached to the Maligawatta police. He had entered a house at Railway Station Road, Dehiwala and stolen the property valued at more than Rs. 1.9 million.

A police team led by OIC Crime Investigation Branch IP Liyanarachchi conducted investigations and arrested the suspect. He was to be produced before the Mount Lavinia magistrate.
