Colombo, September 17 (Daily Mirror) - Over the past 76 years, politics in the country has turned into a massive business, causing widespread hardships, Presidential candidate Janaka Rathnayaka said.
Speaking to the media, he explained that candidates often organise election rallies with the help of companies specialising in gathering crowds.
He claimed that payments between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 5,000 are made per person to attend these rallies. As a result, social and state media portray large crowds at these events.
“There is no real political waves in the country, except on social media and in the media circus. I believe most people are still undecided on whom to vote for, as they are disillusioned with politics,” he said.
