Pramodya appears before SIU probing sports offenses

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Pramodya Wickramasinghe, Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket's Selection Committee, arrived at the Special Investigation Unit for the Prevention of Misconduct related to Sports, to provide a statement.

The summons comes in the wake of a complaint by the Ministry of Sports, initiating an investigation into matters raised in Wickramasinghe's controversial media release issued last week after the World Cup defeat.

Earlier, Wickramasinghe pointed fingers at certain individuals vying for power in the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, brokers involved in match-fixing, and those attempting to secure spots in the national team. These were identified as contributors to the challenges faced by Sri Lankan cricket.

In his letter, Wickramasinghe exposed various conspiracies behind the downfall of Sri Lanka Cricket over the past two and a half years.

Following the revelation, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has instructed the Special Investigation Unit to investigate into the statements made by Wickramasinghe.
