Prevailing windy conditions expected to continue further today

Colombo, July 16 (Daily Mirror) - The prevailing windy conditions over the island are expected to continue further today due to the active South-West monsoonal condition, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

They said showers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Fairly heavy showers of about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Strong winds of about 60 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee, Moneragala and Hambantota districts. 

Strong winds of about 40 kmph can be expected at times elsewhere in the island.
