Probe commenced over death of three-year-old boy at LRH

The Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital has commenced an investigation into the death of a three-year-old boy who died following a kidney operation at the LRH last week.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, LRH Director Dr. G. Wijesuriya said, “The Health Ministry will conduct a detailed inquiry following the conclusion of the internal probe by the LRH.” 
    
The Director also noted that the boy had undergone the surgery in December, 2022 and had died due to an infection of a germ.   

Meanwhile, the Government Medical Officers' Association has also demanded an impartial inquiry into the death as it raises serious concerns over the doctors’ negligence. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
