Colombo, June 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet Paper presented to introduce digital technology to all Piriven education for modernization and development was approved by the Cabinet, said Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardane.
Addressing the weekly meeting to announce Cabinet decisions, he said the proposal was made by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha as a joint plan to implement a programme to empower private education by introducing digital technology.
A total of 825 privens are situated in the country, and more than 100,000 lay and clergy students are attending them, Minister Gunawardana said.
Implementing this programme will enable Piriven teachers and clergy/lay students to use digital technology to explore and analys Sri Lankan national Buddhist heritage, the Minister added.
He said during the meeting that it has been proposed to provide smart classrooms consisting of at least two computers, a smart board, and a printer per Pirivena.
