Providing smart classes will not solve issues in education: Bandula

Colombo, July 16 (Daily Mirror) - Providing at least 500 smart classes for schoolchildren by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa will not solve the issues in education, Cabinet spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.

Addressing the media at the weekly meeting to announce Cabinet decisions, Minister Bandula Gunawardana said that the Opposition Leader is engaging in business projects.

He also said that no decision will be made to remove aesthetic subjects from the school syllabus. He highlighted that 1,000 Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories were established in schools and that aesthetic and arts teachers were trained to use technology to enhance their knowledge.

"We told the Opposition Leader that he cannot even compare what we have accomplished in schools. We did not implement business projects within the school education system. Aesthetic subjects will continue to thrive in the future," Minister Gunawardana said.
