Colombo, Oct 12 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Public Security has directed the Acting Inspector General of Police to expedite investigations into seven high-profile cases, including the controversial 2015 bond deal and the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa said the Ministry has instructed the Acting IGP to coordinate with the Criminal Investigation Department and relevant police divisions. This includes ongoing investigations into the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter and the 2011 disappearances of activists Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganathan in Jaffna.

In addition, the inquiry into the death of journalist Taraki Sivaram (also known as Dharmeratnam Sivaram), who was kidnapped on April 28, 2005, near the Bambalapitiya police station and found dead the following day near Parliament, has also been prioritised.

Thalduwa said that instructions had also been given to accelerate the investigations into the December shooting near the W15 Hotel in Weligama, which resulted in the death of a police officer.
