Rain above 100mm today too

Colombo, May 21 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy showers of above 100mm are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces and in the  Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said. 

They said the South-West monsoon conditions are gradually establishing over the island, and the prevailing showery and windy conditions will continue.

Cloudy skies can be expected over most parts of the island.

Meanwhile, thundershowers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Several spells of showers will also occur in the Northern and North-Central Provinces.

Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected at times over the island.
