Rainfall to enhance in coming days

Colombo, June 07 (Daily Mirror) - The prevailing rainy conditions in the south-western part of Sri Lanka are expected to intensify over the next few days, beginning tomorrow, June 8.

According to the latest weather report by the Meteorological Department, showers are expected at various times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. 

Certain areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, along with the Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts may experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm.

In addition to these areas, the North-Western, Northern and North-Central Provinces are likely to see several spells of showers. The Uva Province, along with the Ampara and Batticaloa districts may encounter showers or thundershowers at a few places during the evening or night.

Furthermore, strong winds ranging between 40-50 kmph are expected intermittently over the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
