Rains exceeding 75 mm likely in several areas

Colombo, August 18 (Daily Mirror)- Fairly heavy showers exceeding 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the Meteorology Department said.

It said showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere over the island during the evening or night, the Department said.

The Meteorology Department forecast fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces.
