Colombo , September 23 (Daily Mirror) - MP Namal Rajapaksa who contested the Presidential election as the candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) said he is prepared to learn if the people intended to teach him a lesson this time and then make a come-back better prepared next time.
In a message to the people after the conclusion of the election, he said his party’s previous 6.9 million vote base had played a role in creating the public mandate at this election, though it was rejected by the then political opposition.
He said he, in the face of severe criticism and mud slinging, attempted to introduce a novel political culture this time.
He expressed his gratitude to the people who kept their faith in him and his party at this election.
