Regulations of Election Expenditure Bill consistent with Constitution: Speaker announces SC determination

The Supreme Court determined that Regulations of Election Expenditure Bill is consistent with the Constitution and can be passed with a simple majority in Parliament, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene announced today.

The Committee on Parliamentary Business is to meet tomorrow and if the committee decides, the second reading debate of the Regulation of Election Expenditure Bill is to be taken on January 19 from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
