SJB candidate wants probe on mudslinging against her on social media

Colombo, October 25 (Daily Mirror) - Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Matale District candidate Rohini Kaviratne has lodged a complaint with Rattota police against what she claims is fake news that is being circulated about her over social media.

“My image has been tarnished by certain persons who are making false allegations and spreading fake stories against me by using fake accounts and profiles. I complained to the police to carry out a probe on the matter,” Ms. Kaviratne told the media after lodging the complaint.

“It is also essential to implement the laws that have been approved by Parliament on cyber crimes and on controlling social media,” she added.

She said the mudslinging of women politicians over social media has to be especially probed.
