SJB will record a landslide victory at LG Polls: Kiriella

We have no intention to accept any politician, alliance or political party who has helped Rajapaksas to destroy this country despite attempts made by them to join the SJB after realizing their fate at the upcoming LG polls.

The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday said the Samagi Bala Sandanaya (SBS) led by the SJB had the capability, strength and confidence of the masses to record a landslide victory at the upcoming Local Government polls single-handedly.

The senior vice president of the SJB and Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said the SBS under the Leadership of the Opposition and the SJB Sajith Premadasa comprising the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and members of the SLPP, who sit as an independent group in Parliament, is the most powerful political alliance that commanded the trust and popularity among 22 million Sri Lankans.

“No political party or political alliance in the country can hold a candle to the SBS in respect of the confidence among voters, ability, power and popularity. The leadership qualities, statesmanship and dignity of its leader Sajith Premadasa are unmatched. All other senior politicians have been tested and identified for their incompetency, failure and corruption” Kiriella stressed.

“We have no intention to accept any politician, alliance or political party who has helped Rajapaksas to destroy this country despite attempts made by them to join the SJB after realizing their fate at the upcoming LG polls,” he said.

“Mr Premadasa has distributed, computers, medicinal drugs, medical equipment and brand new buses to hundreds of schools, hospitals and other needy state establishments worth billions of rupees. No one knows how much money he has donated in silence to various people among the poorest of poor families and organizations. No political leader or a political party can engage in this kind of social or meritorious acts in this country,” Mr Kiriella told Daily Mirror.

“Opponents of the SBS ask us about our programme to save the country from the current political and socioeconomic mess. I would like to invite them to go through the 20-point strategic plan announced by Mr Premadasa in Parliament in early October.(Sandun A Jayasekera)
